Description of topic/theme:
Goa
has been marked by the ongoing flow of people from their homeland – formerly
the principal Portuguese colonial territory in India – to other parts of the Indian
subcontinent, Africa, Europe and the Americas. Today, Goa receives people from
all over the world, both as migrants and as tourists. These movements both to
and from Goa have deeply influenced the society, culture and literature of the
territory in myriad ways. This Special Issue of "Interdisciplinary Journal of
Portuguese Diaspora Studies" will address the questions mobility, identity and
travelling cultural production through a series of scholarly articles, book
reviews of key literature regarding Goan mobility, and literary pieces that
deal with Goans on the move.
